Oh, Canada.....

I picked up my daughter from day care Wednesday and was told she had a fever and could not come back to day care until she has been fever free for 24 hours. The wife had suspected the day before that she had an ear infection, she has been getting them quite often since she was born. Well my hats off to Pediatric Care of York. Their office hours are til 8:30pm, but my wife was able to get an appointment that night at 9:15pm. I went in at 9:10pm and was not the only one there. I thanked the Dr. for staying late, he said they have had the office open til 1am before so they could see all their patients. What a nice place. Anyway, so he gave me two prescriptions, one for Augmentum(Amoxicilin mixed with Clavacin) and one for Flaxocin. So I go to the new Walgreen which has a 24 hour pharmacy, well it will soon currently it is only open til 2am. I drop off the prescriptions and take my daughter home. After I drop her off I head back to Walgreens for the drugs. The pharmacist informs me that my insurance does not cover either drug, WTF, and the total will be $90.98.....W..W..W..WHAT! Why do I even have insurance? It's not like these drugs are frivilous. These drugs are needed to keep my daughter from going deaf. Why would the insurance not cover them? In my opinion the reason for the rise in health care cost is because of these insurance companies. I am moving to Canada!

New York, New York!

The wife and I go to NY once or twice a month, usually. This weekend was one of those times. My wife received tickets to a play for her 30th birthday. The show we got tickets to see was "A Touch of the Poet" staring Gabriel Bryne. It was a pretty good play, but a bit long, 3 hours.

On our way to see the play we spotted a celebrity, John O'Hurley, walking with his wife. My wife was very excited, she liked him on "Dancing with the Stars". After the play we were both very hungry, we had not eatten all day. I was in the mood for either Sushi or something Italian. Italian ended up winning. So we went to a place I spotted when we got out of the subway, Sossa Borella. It was an ok place, plus it was still serving dinner at 11:15pm. There were 2 things that did bother me, I know Big Surprise. Let me know if this would have bothered you. After I ordered my Parrillada; short ribs, sausage, chicken and mashed potatoes. The waiter took my salad fork, spoon and knife. This left only my dinner fork. Are they short on dish washers or something? They couldn't risk me using the wrong utensil to eat with. This irratated me a bit. I mean would it really have been a big deal to just leave my utensils and let me decide which utensil I want to eat with? The second thing that peeved me was that I ordered a Coke and they brought out an 8oz. (pony bottle) of coke. $2.50 for 8oz. of coke. Damn it I am keeping this bottle if they are going to charge me $2.50 for it, but when I was least expecting it they snook up on me and took the bottle. Damn sneaky bastards, first they take my silverware, now my soda bottle. The rest fo the night whenever a waiter or bus boy got close to the table I out my hands and arms on all of my stuff still on the table. At one point they tried to take my bread plate, but when he asked me to let go of the plate I told him I wasn't done with it yet, chalk one up for Kirby!. One thing that did make the evening a little better was that half way through dinner , Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio of "Without a Trace" walked in and ate dinner. "Without a Trace" is another Kirby favorite. Anyway so that was my weekend.
