Silence

I don't usually get involved in stuff like this although I should, but today is "A Day of Silence" for internet radio.

They are raising the fees for internet radio people to stream music which will put a lot of the people out of business, including one that I like very much, Pandora. Internet Radio stations today are going silent so you can see what it would be like if they shut down. You can read more about it on Pandora's site. Or you can go to www.savenetradio.org to find out more information.

Please help out, the regular radio plays nothing but the same old monotonous stuff anymore and the only place to get a variety in music and to hear new music is on the net.

This isn't something I would normally do, but I think it is worth it!

Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day, and I am a Father so it was MY day! I tried to extend Father's day into both Saturday and Monday, to make it extended Father's Day, but that didn't seem to work. However, having just the one day was still great.

My kids, who normally wake up at 7:00am on weekends and well after 7:00am on weekdays, actually slept in which was my first treat for Father's day. I don't think they got up until around 8:30am, which for Jackson is a miracle. So I knew the day was going to be a good one!

Next Mackenzie and Jackson bought me my gift, I opened it and it was a Magellan RoadMate 2000 GPS. I have been wanting a GPS unit so it was cool to finally get one. The only thing was I had to charge it before I could use it, which was a bit of a bummer, i usually like to use things right away. I did use it on my way to work this morning, even if it is only a 2.5 mile trek.

After I opened my present and we got dressed we went to breakfast at the York Airport, in Thomasville, and ate at Orville's. The food was very good, but the place was packed! But all in all I will say it was a good place to go. After we ate, we went out side, which is about 10 feet from the runway. We watched a couple of planes land and take off, it was a cool sight to see, being that close to the runway. Jackson, however, got more excited from the fuel truck filling up the airplanes, than he did the airplanes themselves, weird kid.

After we left the airport we drove round for a little while. I like to look at open houses and look for houses for sale, so we drove around looking for both. We went to an open house or two and looked around some houses that are for sale. I had fun.

The kids had enough of that so we headed home. Jackson took a little nap and Mack played. My mother had dropped of my Father's Day gift the day before, it was a gazebo for my deck. We decided to go outside and while I put up the gazebo, the kids could play in a little blow up pool. They had a blast in the pool, and I had fun watching them from the shadow of the gazebo.

We then decided it was time for dinner so we ordered some food from Texas Roadhouse. I went and picked it up. We ate outside under our......you guesses it, new gazebo. WE then put Jack to bed and cleaned up and went inside.

This is where the only bad part of the day came. I wanted to watch the last episode of "So You Think You Can Dance". My DVR, on the other hand, had a different idea. Even though it showed that it had recorded the show and the green status bar showed up, I got an error stating the show was not available at this time. That DVR is really starting to piss me off, I really need to return it and get a new one. So I couldn't watch that show, but I was able to watch the first episode of this seasons, "Top Chef".

So my Father's Day was very good and I have no one to thank but myself, after all I did provide half the DNA for the kids, and we all know which half I donated(the part that makes the kids good). Oh and I guess my wife helped out a little too! I love my family(it's an old picture, i know), they are great!

Wii-ha!

My Wii arrived yesterday. I hooked it up last night nad started to play. Keep in mind I only have the game that came with the system, Wii Sports. Wii Sports consists of Golf, Boxing, Baseball, Tennis, and Bowling.

The first game that I played was Tennis. I really enjoyed playing tennis, it was fun and very intuitive. I didn't read any instructions, not that I would normally, and it was very easy to pick up. I whooped up on everyone it was great. I can't wait to get more controllers so more people can play, up to 4 people can play at one time. That should be great.

The second game i played was bowling, actually my 3, almost 4, year old daughter played this first. After a little "explaining" to her on how to play, she was off playing. Next my wife wanted to bowl, so she played out the rest of Mack's game. I believe my wife really enjoyed it as well because I had to beg her to come down and just look at the game and she made i quite clear that was all she was going to do. But after watching Mack play bowling for a couple of frames my wife wanted to give it a try and she finished the rest of the frames, quite well I might add. Then she went off to bed.

Next I tried to show Mack how to play the tennis game but her timing was off so it wasn't working out that well.

Then I figured boxing would be easy, and it was, but Mack said she wanted to play the outside game. I didn't have a clue what she was talking about til I scrolled through the game son the menu and she said "That one daddy, the one outside." Turns out she wanted to play golf.

So Golf was out next game. Mack played first. She actually did quite well. All I had to do was tell her to either hit it soft or hard. She did the rest and scored pretty well. After the game was over I headed off to bed but she wanted to stay up and play some more. I told her I was going to bed, but she could stay up and play. But she doesn't like to be alone so she decided, reluctantly, that she would also head off to bed.

The only game we didn't play was baseball. I figure I can save that one for tonight. All in all the Wii was everything I thought it would be. It should prove fun for the family as well as me! Eventually I will get more games, but for now these games are fun.

Ouch!

I read this story this morning and now I am in pain. But some of the comments were very funny!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Maybe Amanda was honoring his manhood by incorporating his lovenut into her being?
Nah, she's just crazy.

exiled says:
Why wasn't he wearing pants? At a party?

jonnylieberman says:

exiled: she thought the party was in his pants, clearly.

I know there was a simualr style post on
Blah Blah Blog yesterday, but I had to post this.

My first......

Yesterday I bought my first game console...ever. I have never been much of a "gamer" or anything, never had a game console growing up, except the Atari 2600 back in the early 80's.

So recently, meaning the last year or so, I have been wanting a game console. But I couldn't decide which one to get. The PS3 had all this hype, the xbox 360 had good games and graphics, and no one really thought the wii would stay around. Well I have finally come to my conclusion. I have decided to go with the Nintendo Wii, for a couple of reasons.
1) Family Appeal - I have a wife and 2 young kids(2 & 4 almost). The Wii looked like it could be used by the entire family
2) Commercials - the commercials for the Wii make it look more fun for the family and make the device look fun to play
3) Price - it is the cheapest of the 3
4) Games - it looks to have more games available
5) Play - it looks like there is more to playing a game than mashing some buttons

So those are my top 5 reasons I decided to go with the Wii. The console should arrive this week, I hope, it was being sent from Illinois this morning. I will give you a review once I get it and start playing.

Weird Item

For those that know me, you know how often i make it to the grocery store., and for those that don't, I go grocery shopping about once a quarter. So 2 nights ago was my quarterly grocery shopping trip. On my trip around the store I found a couple of things that were a bit odd to me. At the deli counter they had something called Macaroni and Cheese Loaf, from what I gathered it is something like a chunk of ham with Macaroni and cheese mixed through out, much like an olive loaf.

This to me would seem to be a bit odd and I can't believe people actually buy this stuff.

Then found these in the ethnic foods section. I think these would be a great topic for the great cola review.

Champagne soda? Is this for rappers who are too poor to get the real thing, Cristal?
