Mentos

This one goes out to Chuck and Josh. I thought they might enjoy this article I found on ydr.com. It is kind of an on going joke of some kof the tings we wanted to do at work, but never really got around to it because we are either too lazy or too forgettful.

OK it's been a while

I know it's been quite some time since my last post, but everytime I went to post something blogger wasn't working. So here are some of my posts:

1) My roofing project is finished, it took 2 weekends, not bad for a 2000 sq. ft roof and some poeple who didn't really know what they were doing. The first weekend we worked on the smaller, but higher roof. In all, it was myself, Rich, Dan, Troy, Josh, Brian, and James. Rhett showed up, but he just cooked and ate. Speaking of cooking, we had steamed shrimp, crabs and corn. All were prepared in my new steamer that I made out of a beer keg I cut in half, and a bar-b-que grate to keep the food from falling into the liquid. Only 1 person fell through the roof, that person was Troy and he only had one leg go through. And since Josh is afraid of heights he stayed on the ground and cleaned up the stuff we threw off the roof, which was a huge job and lots of help.
Here are some pictures from the weekend:

The second weekend I was not so lucky with the help. It was myself, Rich, James, and Josh. Since this roof was lower Josh was now able to help with the actual roofing. Good thing too, since I was really short on help. Saturday Rich and I called it a night when we finished nailing the felt paper downby flashlight at 10pm. The second night Jame sand I finished putting the past shingle on around 9pm. But it was finished, except for some clean up and some trim work which Rich, Josh and I finished by Tuesday after work. I am very happy with the job we did and very thankful to have such good friends.

So that was one weekend. The following week we decided to pull some bushes out of the front yard using my truck since I still had the dumpster in my driveway. I have a video of it, but warning it is a large video. I am working on a smaller video with some music behind it. It is a rather humerous video, after all it probably took us 5 tries to get the first bush out. Chuck, I wish you were there. You would have really enjoyed it.

This past weekend we went to NY/CT. It could have been a better weekend. Everything was going well til Sunday when we were packing up to leave for CT. I was packing and Allison was finishing up getting ready when both of us heard a vase spinning, we started running as we both knew what it was when we heard the **CLASH**, not the band, but the sound of a Vase falling and breaking. Oh did I mention the in-laws just got the house professionally decorated. Which means they paid people to come in and place exspensive things in the house. Apparently the decorators don't have children becasue they put all the $$$ and breakable stuff low where toddlers are easily intrigued by it and can easily grab it and break it. So after I calmed Allison down and made sure everyone was ok, we started calling around to the local Ethan Allen Interior stores, but since it's Sunday no one is opne till noon, which is the time we are supposed to be in CT for my nephew and neice's birthday party. So since all the Ethan Allen stores in Long Island don't open til noon I called Rich to get the number and address of one in CT. So off we headed for CT. It was about 11:45am when we drove past Manhasset, which is where an Ethan Allen store is, so I decided we would stop at this one and wait the 15 minutes for them to open. So we stopped and they actually opened up the store 10 minutes early for me. I walked in and saw the vase right away. I said I will take that , I was then informed that I had to order it and could not purchase it off the floor. Crap! I went out to talk to Allison to see if I should order it. She informed me to order it, but try to get it delivered to the in-laws house. So I went back in and they informed me that they could not deliver it to the house. Then I talked to the manager who was nice enough to sell me the one off the floor. Yeee Ha! OK off the CT we go. CT was uneventful except the normal things that happen when you get 12 kids under the age of 10 together....

So on the way home I have to make a call to see what my future holds for me. I have been planning on buying a restaurant, but needed to get their financials before my backers will give me money. So I was to call Sunday to see about getting the financials. Well I called and as it turns out they are refusing to give me the financials. So no financials = no money = no restaurant....... oh well if it was meant to be it would have been, so guess it wasn't meant to be.

Sorry it is sooooooo long, but it's been awhile since my last blog.
