It's been a while.....

....since my last post, so I thought I would write some today.

Recently, some time in December, we purchased our first new master bedroom set ever. We went to a bunch of furniture places, but in the end found the one we liked at Ashley's Furniture on Rt. 30. It was a nice set and a pretty good price, plus we got 18 months free financing. But like anything nothing ever goes smoothly. We ordered the set and it looked like everything was in stock except for one thing. Which meant either we pay for 2 deliveries or we wait until everything is in stock then they bring it all at once. Being cheap I went for the all at one shot choice. This was in early December, and the other piece wouldn't be in til January. Oh well, we waited this long what's a few more weeks.

So finally the big day arrived 2 weeks ago. The delivery people showed up and all was going well...until I realized they brought the wrong headboard and footboard with them. I brought it to their attention that the one they brought in wasn't the one we ordered. They looked in their truck, but that was the only one they had. I explained that it was nto the one we had ordered. They then gave me 2 choices, well 3 I guess:
1) Accept this one now, and they would bring the right one when they got it.
2) Accept this one and live with it
3) Refuse delivery and they would take it back

I went with option #1 since they said they wouldn't charge me to deliver the right one. We called Ashley's to see what went wrong and apparently the salesman ordered the wrong one, so it would be a couple more weeks til we received the right one. Ok no biggie we have a bed and it is functional.

So after the delivery people brought in and assembled all the furniture they were going to leave, but I asked them what they were going to do about the hole they put in my wall, granted it was a small hole, but a hole none the less. They said they weren't going to do anything because they didn't put it there. WHAT?! Let's see, the house is brand new and there has never been any furniture in this room and it wasn't there when you got here. After some "discussion" they agreed that they might have done it and said they would give me $25.00 to forget about it. Then Allison heard them and she, to put it nicely, went off. Within 2 minutes she was on the phone with their supervisor and Ashley's. It was agreed that their supervisor would come out and fix the whole in the wall. Apparently the delivery drivers wanted to give me the money, because any damage they cause comes out of their pocket.

So not only did we get the wrong head and foot boards, we also got a hole in our wall. Later that day we went to Ashley's to fix the wrong head and foot board problem.

So last week, the supervisor came out and patched the hole(i need to paint it). And we also received the correct head and foot boards. And this time, different delivery drivers came out and were very careful no to put any holes in the walls.

On a different note, the family and I went out to Conn. and New York this weekend for a birthday party. On the way back through New York we passed the place where Heath Ledger died. They had the sidewalk blocked off and a little bit of the road. There were a few people standing outside and a bunch of flowers. We had driven passed this place probably 100 times in the past and never realized who we might have seen.
