Seussical the Musical

My wife and I took the kids to go see a production of Seussical the Musical at a local highschool (DAHS to be exact). For those who don't know me, I am a huge Dr. Seuss fan as is evident by the murals I painted in my daughters room. Well the play was excellent. The performers did a fantastice job. It inspired me to created my first animated gif. Nothing really to do with Seuss except that it make me laugh when I watch it. It can be found here (please be patient there is a song that loads with it).

Also for anyone who might be keeping track of my dieting, I am down to 214.5, a loss of 16 lbs.

3 Mile Island Zoo

This weekend the Family and myself went to the Children's Fun Fair at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex or as I like to call it "The 3 Mile Island Zoo". They boasted about having 150 or so animals.

Well let me run down some of the animals they had and their appearance;

When you first walked in you see a goat and some kids(baby goats not children), they were normal enough looking. Next we see some llamas, from far away they looked fine, but upon closer look the one had 2 buck teeth growing from the bottom lip. Not really that disturbing but it looked like bugs bunny crossed with a llama. Then came the Water Buffalo, now when I think of Water Buffalo I think of big animals, big enough to move boulders. Well these Water Buffalo couldn't move a pebble. They were about 3 feet tall and probably weighed all of 100 lbs. Then we came upon a Zebu, my wife thought Dr. Suess made these animals up, but apparently they are real. After the zebu came an alligator, all 2 feet of it. My chameleon I won at the York fair when I was little looked more ferocious. Then came the monkeys. they were actually what you would expect a monkey to look like. And they also had Lemurs next to the monkeys, again looked like what you would expect them to look like. Next came the piece de resistance, "The World Famous Uni-Cow".....That's right a Uni-Cow. It's a huge cow with one big horn growing out of the center of it's head. I tried to look at it, but it just freaked me out. And right next to the Uni-Cow was the Shaggy Donkey. The Shaggy Donkey is a 6ft. tall donkey with really long hair, another freaky looking animal. You couldn't see this donkey's eyes or anything. That pretty much sums up the first room.

The second room was a little better. The animals here looked like regular animals or at least what you would expect. On this side they had a kangaroo, more llamas, a camel, a pony, miniature horses, macall bird, grey parrot, elephants, chickens, pigs, osterich, some deer, and a big snake. There may have been a couple of animals I forgot about, but you should get the picture from the animals I mentioned.

Mackenzie had tons of fun. They had some rides to go along with the animals. And they had some animal rides. Mackenzie went on an elephant ride and a pony ride. The elephant was huge, however, Mackenzie didn't want her mommy to go so she went with some other family. They didn't seem to mind except they had a relative take pictures of them on the elephant and I wonder how they would explain Mack in the middle of the picture because she didn't sit in the front or in the back of the family. She sat right between the adult male and adult female with the other child sitting in the front. Should make for some interesting pictures. However, Mackenzie's favorite ride was the pony ride. She loved the pony ride. So that was our experience at the "3 Mile Island Zoo".

Correcting Police Officers

I read this article today and it motivated me to write the following to the Judge:

Subject: Correcting Police Officers
I just finished reading an article which featured you, a police officer and a student. And I am appalled at the following quote:

"The horn blowing is not the real problem here, it's that you were trying to correct the police and they didn't need correcting,"

You are partially correct, the horn blowing is not the real problem here, the real problem is the police officer using his flashers to run a red light.
It is this kind of thinking that give police officers God complexes. There always needs to be checks and balances and this is one of those times. How can you say it is ok for a police officer to run a traffic light, when if an ordinary citizen were to do it they would receive a citation?

It says in the article the officer needed to run the light in order to help a fellow officer catch a speeder. What happened when the student blew his horn? Did the speeder, the other officer was chasing, also hear the horn and think it was him? And thinking it was for him, did the speeder pull over to see what the student was beeping at, allowing the other officer to catch up and give the speeder a citation? I don't think so.

It is the police officers duty to server and protect it's citizens, not run lights they don't feel like waiting for and feeling the are above the law. Please don't forget the tax payers are the ones who pay your and their salaries. Before you say that no harm can come from the officer using his lights to go through a light, let me tell you this story.

My brother was killed by a HazMat vehicle. The HazMat vehicle decided to take a drive, the call they were going to got cancelled, they didn't feel like stopping at a stop sign so they turned on their lights and ran the stop sign. My brother happened to be crossing the intersection at the same time. The car flew into a telephone pole, hitting the pole ten feet from the ground. This impact killed my brother and another passenger along with seriously injuring 2 other passengers. A investigation was launched and found my brother did everything correctly, but because the HazMat drivers were bored that day 2 people died.

This is why it is important that police officers, ambulance drivers, HazMat drivers and Firefighters do NOT abuse there power and stick to the law when possible.

I realize that this email most likely won't be read, but I had to at least try to inform you why the arrogance you displayed is WRONG.
